What is Microneedling?
Microneedling helps to reduce the appearance of scars, improve skin texture and tone and help to smooth out uneven skin tone. These small micro punctures or micro injuries cause your body to mimic its natural healing process by making more collagen and elastin. It can be used on many areas of the body. This microneeding procedure can be customize to address your skin conditions, it can either be done with a number of medical grade serums or your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to enhance your results to address your specific skin needs. Microneedling can treat acne scars, sun damage, stretch marks, sun spots or hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles.
The procedure is performed by first applying topical numbing cream to the treatment area and after the area is numbed and cleansed. A serum or PRP is placed on the skin to help the device glide across the treated area to create the micro punctures that are not visible to the eye. The micro puntures will cause pin point bleeding and once the entire area is treated in this manner, a serum or PRP will be applied again. Following the procedure post instructions will be discussed and typically mild to moderate redness similar to a sunburn will subside within a few hours to days following the procedure. It is important to know that multiple treatments are needed to achieve your best results and it is recommended that a series of 3-4 treatments will yield. the best results in most patients.
